Our journalistic purpose is as follows: To examine Colorado’s historical trends of voting democratic in presidential elections and to understand the significant variables that have contributed to the current shift toward its status as a blue state. After investigating the information and trends, we will also theorize how Colorado will vote in the future.
How about: Group #1 is looking at Colorado's recent shift from being a "red" state to being a "blue" state. Does Colorado have a history of being a "purple" state? We'll look at Colorado's presidential election voting trends since 1940 to see if the shift to being a blue state is an anomaly or a predictable swing. We'll also look for other influences that may have caused Colorado to change from a red state in 2000 to a blue state in 2008, such as demographic shifts, economic factors, environmentalism.
